MAC’s SFF is an undeniably good powder in so many respects. It is medium-buildable coverage which means it can (apparently) be used alone or to set a liquid/cream foundation.
MAC has an infamously good shade range. This powder can currently be bought in over 50 shades, meaning that all skin tones and undertones can be catered for.
It is sold as a foundation, so it is heavily pigmented for a powder. This is great if you’re looking for added coverage while setting, but can go wrong easily.
If you use sparingly, this lasts FOREVER. It took me a year to use this up when I used it daily, which I now don’t do, meaning it will last even longer.
Rants:
Although the shade range is great, the shade matching is NOT the best. I was matched to NW22 which, at the time, I naively took to be gospel truth. Now I’m armed with a bit more knowledge (I’m cool toned…I’m pasty…NW22 are neither of those) I really have no clue how I was ever matched to NW22. That’s a lie; I do. The lighting in MAC stores is dark, normally because they want to show off those illuminated rainbow displays (you know the ones I mean – the rainbow stripe things behind the checkout?) which is aesthetically gorgeous, but leaves you less than impressed with the (not exactly cheap) purchase once you step back out into the light of day. This isn’t a ‘be all and end all’ con – once you know, you can check in daylight or even match yourself – but definitely one to be aware of before you drop your hard earned pennies.
This can turn very cakey very quickly. MAC will tell you that this product is suited to any skin-type because, as most companies do, they want sales. However, for me, this is entirely unsuitable for dry skin. Used alone on dry skin, this will grab at dry patches and leave you with a patchy result. N20 mac foundation. Used to set a liquid base, this is too heavy and will sit on the skin and cake away. Whats more, if you’re using the right liquid base on dry skin, you shouldn’t need to set heavily – especially with something as pigment-heavy as this – but more of that another time.
I personally don’t think this can be used alone. My oily skin is starting to calm down now, but I was in peak-grease position when I originally purchased this and I tried, in vain, to use it alone. Even on my skin, it grabbed and patched off; I took it off straight away.

Use sparingly and set with a setting spray if you’re unsure, then see how it wears – add more as needed. Don’t go overboard on the first run and then act surprised when it cakes off. Finally, as with all MAC products, this is not vegan/veggie friendly. In order to sell in China, MAC have to test on animals. All MAC products fall under this banner, which is controversial for many people and therefore worth mentioning.

If you are very oily and are looking for a way to stay matte all day, this is a good option to try. But I mean ‘TRY’ – always match in daylight and don’t be scared to get yourself matched and then wander around for a bit. Photoshop cs6 pirate mac. See how this settles on your skin. If you’re happy, then buy away. Check out John Lewis and their 10% off days too, saving money if great whether you like the product or not, but MAC aren’t likely to drop a 50% off all powders email in our inboxes any time soon. As mentioned, bear in mind that this product contains a lot of pigment. When I wear it, I wear half my normal amount of liquid base and the set with this; the coverage I lost in my liquid base is easily supplemented with this. This is a flat-matte product, which can be both a rave or a rant depending on what you want. This won’t leave the slightest hint of a glow – you have to add your own – which can be great for oilier skin, but just another con for dry skins.
